Camarillo Traded To Vikings For Benny Sapp

The Miami Dolphins traded Greg Camarillo to the Minnesota Vikings for cornerback Benny Sapp. Sapp had 40 solo tackles for the vikings last year, but posted 0 interceptions. The Vikings have been hurt recently for receivers after Percy Harvin had some issues and now Sidney Rice will be sidelined for at least 4-8 game this season. Camarillo played 3 season with Dolphins and put up 552 yards receiving for the Dolphins last year.

The move by the Dolphins may sugest the Will Allen will not be ready in time for the regular season, we will have to wait a few weeks and see what happens.

Training Camp Updates: QB, RB, Offensive Line

Chad Henne has continued to perform well in practice despite some criticism early on. Pennington is his usual consistent but older self, he will have the second spot coming into the season. Tyler Thigpen is doing well enough to keep him above Pat White in 3rd, but that isn't saying much considering White's performance has not been good last year or in practice.

Ronnie Brown is feeling healthy and doing work in practice, he has looked sharp during drills and had some good runs where he broke a few tackles. Ricky Williams is consistent and seems to be just going through the routine, he looks light & quick and seems very focused.

So who is gonna be blocking and holding down the protection on the offensive line ? How about almost 700 pounds of blocking power on the right side between Vernon Carey and potential rookie standout John Jerry. Then on the right side you have the stud Jake Long working with a rather "incognito" guy named Richie ( Richie Incognito). The center position has been up in the air the past few days as Jake Grove may have opened room for Joe Berger to take the starting role. We should know more about the center position in the next few days.

Dolphins take on the Buccaneers Saturday at 7 pm.

Will Allen Has Knee Surgery

Will Allen has just undergone arthroscopic knee surgery after already receiving treatment for ligament repair recently. These surgeries are supposed to keep Allen out of play through the entire pre-season, but signs point to his return from the injury report status to as soon as the first oar second game of the season.

Still Early: Defense Better Than Offense In Scrimmage

The defense played better than the offense during the scrimmage Saturday. The defense got in on the quarterback often and penetrated the offensive line well. The defense held Brandon Marshall to just 11 yards and Chad Henne only completed 50% of his passes. While the defense should be given credit for a good performance Saturday, the offense should not be heavily critiqued just yet.

The pre-season is still young and the Dolphins are moving players around on the offensive side quite a bit. Heck, Sparano even brought in Hartline to take snaps at center. Charles Grant got the best of John Jerry on the day delivering 3 sacks to the offense. Jerry is still trying to be worked in by Sparano so he has not had much time yet to hone in on his strengths. Jerry will develop more soon enough and he shows good potential, nevertheless, Grant capitalized well on Jerry's unsteadiness.

more to come....

Patrick Cobbs Injures Hamstring

Patrick Cobbs has injured his hamstring and the team is not certain on his return date. The Phins just lost Kory Sheets with an Achilles injury last week and now Cobbs goes down with a hammy injury. Sheets and Cobbs were the leading contenders to replace Tedd Ginn Jr. for the kick returner position.

Dolphins Practice Update: Offensive Depth

The Miami Dolphins practices are starting to shape up and give some insight into depth positioning and where the players may fall come the start of the season. A.J. Edda was injured Monday in training camp drills, the Dolphins quickly added former Kentucky linebacker Micah Johnson to the roster. Sean Smith and Nolan Caroll post grabbed an interception today in practice one came at the hands of Chad Henne and the other from Pennington.

Let's talk about depth at the QB position. You have Chad Henne, Tyler Thigpen, Chad Pennington, and Pat White. Henne is the starter and Thigpen & Pennington are competing for the second position. Pat White is just not producing for the Dolphins in any capacity and early reports out of training camp say nothing has changed yet unfortunately. At the running back spot We have Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Patrick Cobbs, Lex Hilliard, Cory sheets, and Tristan Davis. You also have at the fullback position Lousaka Polite and Rolly Lumbala. Ronnie and Ricky are undoubtably the starters and Cobbs looks good after recovering from his ACL injury. The unknown would be the spots between Hilliard and Shoots for the tailback position. At the wide receiver spit we have Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess, Ryan Grice-Mullen, Taurus Johnson, Greg Camarillo, Patrick Turner, Julius Pruitt, Roberto Wallace, and Marion Moore. Marshall, Hartline, Bess, and Camarillo are the starting core. Turner will most likely be the fifth. At tight end we have Anthony Fasano, Joey Haynos, Kory Sperry, and John Nalbone. Fasano is the starter for sure.

Rookie Report: A.J. Edds Gone For Season With Torn ACL

Tony Sparano has confirmed the A.J. Edds has injured himself and will be gone for the season. Edds suffered the injury at the indoor practice facility on Monday and initially tried to play through it, but it proved to be to severe and trainers had to attend to him after sitting out a few plays.
