Dolphins to win the AFC East

That's right Fin's fans, and it's not me saying it.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt, during a live chat, predicts the Dolphins will win one of the NFL' s toughest divisions. "I think the Dolphins will be in first place in the AFC East come Week 17." He went on to touch on the obvious keys to the Dolphins success including the health of Ronnie Brown and the continued development of Chad Henne.

Too little credit?

The Dolphins acquired perhaps the top two talents in this off-season shuffle in WR Brandon Marshall and LB Carlos Dansby. Henne now has a monster on the outside to open up the field for the other weapons and Dansby, a tackling machine, will be there in the middle to limit the run and help new DT Randy Starks. They used all but one pick (recently signed OL John Jerry) in this years draft to focus on the defense. There are still questions at OLB and FS but the coaching staff feels good about their options in Cameron Wake and Chris Clemons.

Despite these upgrades the majority of football "experts" are going with Brady and the Pats. Still others are being swept up in the hoopla that is Rex Ryan and choosing the upstart Jets as an early favorite to win the division.

Have the Dolphins done enough? Let's hope so.

John Jerry Inks Deal With Dolphins

3rd round pick John Jerry has made it official with the Dolphins, he is now signed and ready to do work. Jerry is a 6-foot-5 , 328 pound guard and tackle who the Dolphins hope will make a big impact. Jerry comes out of Ole Miss where he blocked for 3 different 1,000 yard rushers. Jerry was a two time All SEC honoree.

The Dolphins two top picks are still unsigned as we fast approach August. Jared Odrick and Koa Misi are still in talks to close their deals up. None of the First round draft picks this year in the NFL have signed with their respective teams as of yet.

One Bulldog Signs, Another Retires: Reshad Jones & Jason Ferguson

Reshad Jones and Jason Ferguson both hail from the Georgia Bulldogs. One of them is on the way into Dolphins camp, and another is leaving.

The Miami Dolphins got Reshad Jones to sign on the dotted line this week. Jones is 6 foot 1 and a 214 pound safety who comes from Georgia. He had 206 tackles, 129 of which were solo. He also had 11 interceptions for 174 yards.

Defensive tackle Jason Ferguson retires after 13 season in the NFl. He played his last two season with the Miami Dolphins. He was drafted by the NY Jets in 1997.

CBS Touts Jake Long As a Top 30 Player In NFL

Pete Prisco of CBS sports has ranked his top 50 players in the NBA. Jake Long landed at number 29 on the list placing him the league's top 30 standout players. Long should be a great asset for the Fins this year once again. The competition will begin to heat up for the O-line positions as the season nears.

Cory Proctor and John Jerry will battle it out in the guard spot, along with Donald Thomas and Richie Incognito. Jake Grove and Joe Berger will battle for center. Nate Garner is coming off foot surgery and we hope he will be back in top shape as well.

We will follow up on the Offensive line soon when practices begin again.
